New Battlefield 2142 Screenshots

I'm not a heavy gamer, but I am not particularly impressed by the graphics quality. Sure, the lighting looks nice (HL2 HDR?), but the actual textures don't seem to be any better than say HL2.

Considering they still haven't fixed most of the bugs in Battlefield2, I doubt I will be picking this one up when it comes out.

I really feel this is a ditch effort by EA to compete with Enemy Territory: Quake Wars

Being an ET loyalist, I will not put down my money for this game.

Looks like they stole the Titan Mechs from C&C Tiberian Sun.

How could they? The graphics for TS had the thing made with about 14 enlarged pixels.
🙂

Oh come on they weren't that bad, and the CGI movies are still cool to watch! 🙂

Agreed - not to mention the fact that the futuristic warfare doesn't really appeal to me.

Reminds me of the Mechwarrior series. This is a good thing.

That's funny - the first thing I said when I saw the trailer is that if I wanted to play Mechwarrior I'd play Mechwarrior. Battlefield 1942 was such a great game because you used real weapons in real battles. This futuristic robot crap is not my style.

Mechwarrior is a bit dated, and, AFAIK, lacks large-scale (32-64 player) multiplayer support.

If "futuristic robot crap" is not your style, stick with BF1942 -- it's not that difficult. 😉

I'm likely not gonna grab it. Part of the allure of BF was the 'real world' settings. I played tribes 2 back in the '01. Besides, this is the same engine as BF:2 so it's not like graphically it's going to be better, nor will the gameplay be *that* different.

Come on, you must admit that '42 was the first game to really get vehicles to work right, and I dont remember the take and hold points concept being popular before then.

I know, I'm just discussing the game - this is the Games forum, right? Er... wait... 😛

It was in Close Combat, but that was an entirely different type of game.

Haha, yeah, I thought it was assumed that I meant FPSs. 😛

We had the original Close Combat...I spent many hours with that game.

9.1 on Gamespot!

Like the massive maps of the BF series but i dont really like the ticketse system or the hold and control points premise.
