NEW MAP

Coral Sea is an exciting new map set in the Pacific theater. The action is fast and furious as players test their piloting skills with a total of 24 planes available on the map. The action isn?t limited to dogfighting however as each side has a carrier that they need to defend at all costs. To win, you?ll need to sink the enemy carrier, and then fly through a buoy that appears amidst the wreckage of the ship. Throw in some land-based AA guns and a defensive gun or two in the mix, and you?ve got our latest recipe for a great Battlefield 1942 holiday treat!

Coral Sea was designed to play with 24 players. We recommend sever settings of 24 players for the Coral Sea map.

Sweet... can't wait to get home. 😀

I just hope some EA servers will be running it... or maybe they'll setup a couple Coral Sea only servers. That'd be nice. 🙂
 
my friends are coming over for the holidays...

is there a way to set up a game on my LAN with 4 players and then fill the other spots with bots?
 
this map is ok, its very very empty and not much work has been put into it

only been about 10 players on the server I have been playing on since it was released

yep but it takes quite a bit of CPU power for bots

Is it empty because there are only 10 players? I get the idea that it seems to be a mid-sea battle which doesn't offer much for scenery.
 
How are the planes arranged? Is it a bigger aircraft carrier and they're actually staggered on the decks or are they spread out on multiple carriers, they respawn, what?

i'm dedicating a p4 1.6 ghz to run as server only for this...hope that's enough...

its not exactly mid sea, there are a few tiny islands there, all with aa guns and def guns 🙂 but its obvios that not much work has been put into it

Same here. I suck when flying, but give me an AA gun and I'll shoot you down pretty quickly. As neomits (aka Doc Holiday) has found out time and again. 😀
 
hmmm well it was fun but its very simple


just one place to spawn (the planes keep spawning and spawning really fast) and since engineers can fix the carrier its really hard to get it taken out

What are you talking about? It looks like every other BF1942 level, with tons of water and small plots of land for taking down planes. It's absolutely perfect for what it's designed for.

What are you talking about? It looks like every other BF1942 level, with tons of water and small plots of land for taking down planes. It's absolutely perfect for what it's designed for.

"It kinna sucks" works 🙂. It's a pretty boring map to say the least, but if your into shooting down and or flying planes then this map will be loads of fun. I cant fly the planes for crap 🙁, damn tree's!!!

I found another neat way to play the map, the only way to keep it interesting longer than 5 minutes. Pick the sniper class, take a plane, fly high above the allies carrier, jump out of the plane and fall for a while and aim for the roof of the bridge, open parachute at the last minute and then snipe the poor suckers 🙂

but pretty much a boring map
