New batch of video card refurbs just went up at Newegg

Some nice deals there. People on a budget should scoop these up quick!

ti4200 for $69 now oos.

They also have a sapphire atlantis 9600 pro for $111.

I don't believe the manufacturer's warranty is still in effect on Newegg refurbs. The 15-day warranty Newegg gives you is all you get. Don't get your hopes up with any of these cards and if you order one, check it out THOROUGHLY when you receive it. I have a 9700 Pro that I picked up from their refurb section and it's awesome. I ordered a 9800np last week and it suffered severe artifacts at stock speeds in Win XP. I even did a complete reinstall of XP to make sure it wasn't driver residue, but the problems were still there. As long as you call and get an RMA within 15 days, Newegg is really good about taking care of you and you're only out return shipping. Don't expect the refurbs to come with any cables or driver discs - some do, but most don't.

When does new egg get new batches of refurbs? I just bought a 64 BIT 9100 from them, I am taking it back because it totally SUCKS! If their description said it was only 64bit, I would have never of bought it! Anyone have any other recommendations for a card around 50 dollars for a 2nd rig w/ an athlon 2000+. The weird thing about the 9100 though, compared to my current rig w/ a ti4200 128mb 8x, the 9100 in the other machine played smoother in Generals for some reason!

Do you mean it only had 64MB of RAM? If so, I'll resist recommending (although it is a good deal on a pretty fast card) the 4200 64MB RAM Chaintech still available for $61.50.... http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?DEPA=&type=Refurbish&submit=Go&description=N82E16814145038R&mark=Catalog

That 4200 w/128MB RAM they had for $69 would have been an excellent card for your system. Of the other cards remaining in the current batch the cheapest good card I see is the 4200 for $85.

I've had a hard time finding a pattern to the posting of refurb batches; it seems random to me.

141 For sapphire pro ultimate.

This is 47 dollars cheaper than the brand new model.... but it doesnt come with

1) any of the 3 games
2) any of the cables?
3) any of the cd's period?

im kinda asking because im not sure.

Also, if its returned, it probably just didnt overclock as high as they wanted it to..

That Sapphire is indeed a good deal. Very nice card. Hard to say what if anything will be in the box with it; sometimes the refurbs come bare (no cables/cds etc.) in a plain box, sometimes you get everything looking brand new in the original packaging. Newegg certainly describes them all as coming bare, but sometimes you get luckky. Not really a big deal with most of the cards, although it could certainly be a problem with something like an AIW (i.e., missing the remote). I've ordered 2 refurb video cards; both came in the retail boxes, one with cables, the other with nothing. Downloaded drivers for both and they work just fine. I have the same feeling as you about the reason for many of these returns; I think people are unable, for one reason or another, to overclock them and send them back. I'm pretty happy with both of mine, although neither overclocks to the extent I'd seen others being able to with the same models.

I think they only have a 15day warranty.

This depends HEAVILY on the manufacturer. If you buy a BUILT BY ATI card, the manufacturers warranty covers it FULLY, whether it is OEM or retail (Current generation cards)

Check the ATI site for their policy

i just got my refurbed Albatron FX5900PV for $220
and ran 3DMark2003 and got around 5500 at 438/926 not bad for a refurbed card

i didnt see any artifacts any other program i should run to make sure its OK??

thanks

I think looping 3DM03 for a few hours would make for a great stress-test for mainly the GPU. You could try Aquamark 3 or UT2K3 or something else, but I'm not sure any will allow for easy looping.

But then, I'm not sure stress-testing for a few hours will be totally useful in predicting future failure. You could give it a try, but be aware you might damage the HSF which may cause trouble later. I hope not, as I'm sure most gamers who buy $200+ cards play for hours at a time, so I'd assume HSFs are made to withstand such abuse. But I don't want to be responsible for breaking your card out of warranty. 🙂 I'd try it, though. I figure with a mainly solid-state card, either it works or it doesn't. Just check on the HSF regularly, as you won't be able to replace the card in case it fries due to HSF failure.

I should hope an hsf can stand hours of hard use 😉

Looping 3dmark for a few hours or playing a game should tell you if it has any problems right now. A single run through with 3dmark may not be enough, as it often isn't enough time for the card to really heat up.

DahDee, I meant it had 64 bit memory interface! Its weird though, its still a LOT better than the mx 440 i had in there. A ti4200 is just to much money (i got the card for 40 bucks). A couple of weeks ago, new egg did have a true 8500 for 39, but i was too late! It was sold out before I bought it. A few months ago I bought a new ti 4200 128 mb 8x off ebay (for my main rig) for only 79 dollars! It can oc to 300/600 stable! With my athlon 2200 and ti4200 i still get slowdowns in mohaa and generals though!

I got a saphire 9600 pro and the card doesnt run for crap. Blue lines all over the screen. Youd think someone would test these before they sell them.

WOW this is a good find...you should post this in the hot deals forum...unless you plan on buying them all yourself and don't want the word to leak out.😉

Dang, you people bought them all up! The AT Effect is murder sometimes... 🙁😉

NewEgg's Video Card refurb section is a great place to buy from. And if you card is busted and you RMA they might give you a new one!
