NEw baby - Webcam - 56k connection - help

My buddy's wife is due next week, and he wants to get a set of webcams, one for him, and one for his mom who lives in Tennessee, so he can show her the kid. Now, she only has 56k, is there a webcam that will work decently?

That's what I was looking at, how do you think that will work?

You can get any web cam you want but if she is on 56k that will be the limiting factor.

My advice, if they don't have a digital camcorder they need to buy one, as they go with new babies like peas&carrots. Burn the videos in a format and media his mom's PC or stand alone player supports, and occassionally mail her a copy 🙂

THey already have one and plan to do that. They seem to think it'll be cool for his parents to see the baby "live". Not that I disagree that's what he aske dme to find out though.

So as long as she keeps the video window small on her end, she'll be able to see what's going on without much problem?

yes . . . if it is too large, it 'slideshows' (it'll do that anyway - occasionally, more-or-less - depending on the connection).

id tell em to get cable if theyre that gung-ho about seeing the baby.......or get it for 20$ the first 6 months then after that cut it....nothings going to happen interesting after the babies that old anyway ;-P
