New B-series motherboards

I was just told by my computer guru that all the present mobos will be obsolete when the new B-series come out. My friend has a computer business and has the latest info daily.

That the present cases are not suitable for the new mobos.
How about that!?

Can AT or anyone shed any light on the new changes that will affect us and what these ramifications will do to the hardware?

Ah BTX, the no show form factor (2 years over due).

If it does show up, you will need a new case to use the motherboards, assuming AMD and Via and all the mobo makers follow Intel's lead.

Basically, BTX was suppossed to improve cooling for the CPU and in the case. Intel needed (needs) this as the P4 is smokin' hot. So far, only the OEMs (Gateway for example) have bothered with BTX, other products are "in the wings".
 
I read recently that Intel may back away from BTX now. AMD fans never needed BTX due to AMD chips generally run cooler than Intel chips. Now that Intel has some cooler running chips coming out the need for BTX isnt as strong as they once thought. I guess time will tell but it doesnt look as though BTX is going to be that popular as Intel once envisioned.
