New audio setup, no sound.

Just got:

Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum card,
Logitech THX Z-680 5.1 500w system.

I loaded the drivers for the card, plugged in all the speakers and etc hardware (there's a volume and effects controller that sits on your desk, the card plugs into it, it plugs into the sub). No sound. When I change effects with the external controller, I can hear the speakers click, then hiss for a few seconds (then hiss goes away which is normal). So I know the speakers are hooked up right. I also have the cables from the controller to the card setup right. I check all volume controls: The controller ones, the system ones, all of em. None of them are at low volume or mute. Yet, not even a peep out of these bad boys. I also JUST built my computer and installed windows a few nights ago, so this system is still an audio virgin.

Any advice?

Well, if they are hooked up right they should work, unless the sound is muted, check check and recheck the sound hookups, if that doesnt work, try plugging into the audigy card instead of the external thing you were talking about

The driver says it's not digitally signed. How do I take care of this?

Ignore it. Windows always says that. Install it anyway.

Do you get any sound with your speakers connected directly to the soundcard?

The speaker wires have to connect to the sub. the sub has to connect to the external volume control. Not that I'm being a direction following whore, it just won't fit. It all fits one way. The speaker wire is like 18 guage, the sound card has rca inputs.

I'm lookin for a pair right now. I'd doubt that though because I can hear them click when turned on and hiss when the volume is turned way up...

I'll test some headphones

Ok, does this mean I can't use the direct input?

From Logitech.com

The z680s come equipped with both digital coaxial and optical inputs. The unit also contains a digital decoder that can decode either Dolby Digital or DTS signals, which you may connect to your computer by a 75ohm digital coaxial cable or standard optical cable. The onboard decoder must be used in order to experience true 5.1 surround sound. To use the z680 onboard decoder, the speakers must be connected to your sound source or PC via digital optical or coaxial cable and the "effect" setting must be set to PL2 Movie for DTS and Dolby Digital on the Control Pod. In general, you must disable any software and/or hardware decoder on your PC. You will need to do this because the z680´s decoder will not be able to decode an already decoded signal. If a software or hardware decoder on your PC is active, the z680's will play the audio in only 2 channels, rather then 5.1. You must also remember that the source of the audio must also support 5.1 Dolby Surround or DTS, such as DVD movies and some video games.
