New ATI XFX 5870 DOA?

Just built a pc. I installed the ATI drivers. (10.6) and rebooted, as soon as I hit desktop, I got tons of pixilation, driver crashes, and then the pc would lock up. Using VGA drivers I could easly work in win 7.

Yeah, I'd say there's a pretty strong possibility it's dead.
