new ATI video card occasionally has driver reset

Hey all,

I just installed a new powercolor 4850 (which was a replacement for a previous DOA card) and it is working well. I have rivatuner installed, and the core temp is at 55C while idle. When gaming (dead space, 1920x1200, high settings) the temp barely goes up and the fan never goes past 60%.

So, everything seems perfect from that perspective. The odd thing is about once a day while I am at the desktop the ATI driver will reset itself. This seems to occur randomly and not under heavy use. In fact, when I am gaming I have not received this error yet.

😕

So, do I need to RMA this card, or is it a driver issue or just something else that can be ignored? Thanks for your insight.

Uninstall the drivers and then run 'driver cleaner' to remove all the leftovers. Reinstall the latest drivers.

If that doesn't work reinstall windows.
