I have Windows xp upgrade. I had windows ME put a new computer together and when I initially installed windows ME so that i could upgrade, I installed ATI catalyst and Drivers, and once I upgraded I installed the new drivers from the internet. I didnt delete or remove the old ME drivers.

I woke up this morning and my comp said it had shut down because of some Looping problem that my ATI was stuck in.

Should I remove the drivers and reinstall and if so.....How, cause Im not familiar with ATI at all.

I just now noticed in my device manager it says:
Radeon 9600 series
Radeon 9600 series - Secondary

is shouldn't be listing two drivers?

That`s normal so don`t worry about that, you could try Driver Cleaner 1.9 from here to remove all traces of the old drivers after removal then install a new set of 3.6s.

Remember you can have two monitors on the 9600 ,so one will be primary while the other is secondary, that`s why you have it listed even if you only use one monitor.

What you should have done was install ME and then upgrade to XP right behind it. If you plan to upgrade, ESPECIALLY when switching platforms like that, it's always best to not install any drivers or software to try to obtain the cleanest upgrade possible. So, should you decide to format and start over, keep that in mind
