New ATi and Nvidia cards, reported price drop?

I read over at digitimes, link fixed that there will be a $20 price drop in ATi's new cards, with Nvidia to follow suit with the 8800GT. When is this reported price drop, because I want to get a graphics card before Christmas.

There's no way that the price drop will make it anytime this year. The cards are in scarce supply and the retailers are gouging as far as they can. Even if the manufactures drops their MSRP, that means extra gravy for the retailer.

Fat chance at an 8800GT price drop before Christmas. Try ordering the XFX 8800GT at Dell which is a bit above MSRP (which is $230-250). It's not in stock, but I suppose it's currently the best deal for an 8800GT and if you order now, at least it'll be for that price, not higher which I suspect it will continue to be.

If not the 8800GT, check out some 3870s or 3850s, even, and use that until February when the Geforce 9 series are rumored to come out.
