All,

I just finished building my new Athlon system. I have a 1 GHZ T-Bird with an Asus A7V (1004 bios)

Windows installation went fine (fresh format install) and all my devices work fine.. However, when I shut down my system (WinME), I will get a blue screen that says windows protection error.

Anyone else have this problem?

Here are my system specs:

Athlon 1GHZ T-Bird
Asus A7V
Hercules GTS
128MB Micron PC133 CAS2
Adaptec 29160 SCSI controller (sharing IRQ10 w/ onboard Promise controller)
IBM 9ES Ultra160 SCSI drive (boot drive)
IBM 34GXP connected to onboard promise controller (Primary)
Sblive
3Com 10-100 PCI nic

Also, I am having some weird problems w/ scandisk and defrag.. almost everytime I run scandisk, windows says it has found errors on my drive and corrected them all. No bad sectors though.. And sometimes defrag will hang the system, esp. while i defrag the IDE drive.

I was using this whole setup with a P3 and a BX board b4 and I never had any problems.

This has happened to me a couple of times, but not everytime.

I havnt found out what it is though, it could well be the Nvidia drivers

Yeah, I've heard of the nVidia drivers doing that sometimes. Also relize that WinMe can be very picky about how it runs.

I'd try installing Win98 on it and see if the same thing happens.

Thanks all for the help.. i could be having the WinME / 75GXP problems... and that gets me worried.

I'm using the Detonator 3 drivers (6.31) off Nvidia's website.

I would try 98, but I paid for WinME and it's been ok with my BX system.

It's the det drivers. I'm almost positive. Grab the latest leaked ones from www.3dchipset.com. 3 friends and I had the same problem, but the latest leaked drivers made it go away.
