Hi Guys,

Just completed my new Ryzen 7900x build on the Asus X670E-F motherboard and have carried out stability testing at stock settings with the only exception setting RAM to XMP (DOCP) settings in Asus Bios.

The system has been stable with Aida64 / Cinebench and Prime 95 for 1 hour on each on latest Windows 11 22H2.
I have also ran the passmark memory tester in windows and windows memory diagnostic tool with no errors.

I have been looking to set the Asus Enhancement settings within the Precision Boost Overdrive of the bios, however on each occasion Cinebench crashes on each of the thermal limit settings of 70c / 80c and 90c.

I have also tried the traditional method of using the curve optimiser with PPT 180000 and negative -20 / all the way down to -1 but still get instability and BSOD on each value. I have also tried different bios versions and chipset drivers with the same result.

Have I just lost the silicon lottery or is there a simple solution to my issue? Perplexed TBH

Have you tried Ryzen Master? Asus also seems to have it's own settings but if you look through the BIOS you should see AMD Overclocking settings. I would suggest trying Ryzen Master first and see if you can get anything going with PBO and then try curve optimizer.

Hi

Yes I have tried Ryzen Master and the PC gets a BSOD after around 20mins. I have enabled the AMD overclocking settings but when I set negative curve even on lowest increments 5 its unstable and BSOD. That shouldn't be the case me thinks. Totally perplexted.

You reckon it could be the memory as its non AMD EXPO (but I think unlikely)

AMD Ryzen 7900x (using IGPU)
Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE (Air Cooler)
Asus X670E-F Gaming Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance RGB RAM 6000MHz (non EXPO)
Asus TUF ATX 3.0 1000 Watt PSU
WD Black SN850X PSU

Is the ram at 6000 ? try it at bios defailt, since its NON -EXPO, that could be your problem. I have that motherboard. I set the ram to 6000 (its rated at 6200), the vcore to 1.4 and leave all the timings default.

Hey - I set the the system to auto and not DOCP and was able to use the Asus enhancement option within precision boost settings but the timings were all worse.

This may mean that its a memory issue as it not AMD EXPO so doesn't like any slight bit of overclocking. I have decided to leave it on AUTO and let it boost to whatever it can within the 95c threshold. Its strange because the ASUS QVL had the memory listed as compatible but seems to be that its on its limits in DOCP.

As AMD have confirmed that 95c is fine and if mostly I am gaming it will not even come close to hitting that figure.

Prob if it aint broke don't fix it mentality now
