New Asus P4B533-E

Just as I was about to order the P4T533, I get an email from from mobo's .org saying the P4B533-E is out. Nothing at the Asus site about it, only the P4B533. Does anyone have any info on this board? I haven't read the review yet, but I did glance and see where it did get the highest rating....however the site hasn't tested many P4 boards and hasn't tested any 850 chipsets for some reason.

Does anyone know if the only difference between the P4B533 and P4B533-E is the latter has one more memory slot and firewire?

The P4B533-E has been out for several months, there are plenty of reviews out there. Just search Google for "P4B533-E review", and you'll get tons of them... It is one of the pricier p4 boards, but it is generally regarded as one of the best ones, especially if you plan to overclock.

AFAIK the only differences from the P4B533 is that the P4B533-E has ATA-133 RAID and 2 firewire/1394 ports. (through a bracket)

Strange, everything I saw on it said it was new! I got the impression it was *brand new* from the email I got from motherboards.org. Ok, thanks for the info. 🙂 BTW, these are $167 shipped @pricewatch.

Also, the E version has another memory slot....so with that, the RAID and the firewire, I'm wondering if the E version also has more features for bus speeds, voltages, etc. There is a $12 difference between it and the NON E version (E is $12 more).

The E-version also has an INTEL-NIC (Pro100) onboard, that alone is worth the 12$ more, not to mention the "RAID" and the FIREWIRE.
The features for OCing are the same.

So, get the E-version.

Yeah, it's a better deal. If I went with that board, wish I could find one w/o the LAN. (I already have the new Intel PRO1000 NIC, 66mhz PCI).
