BIOS 1006 Final for CUSL2

No word yet on what the fixes are. This BIOS is equivalent to 1006 Beta 003, although there do seem to be some minor changes between beta 003 and the final.

C'mon, somebody tell if it fixed the cold boot error!

I've been lucky this week, as I've had some 700E's that run windows at 1GHz @ default voltage.

han888, yes, but it largely depends on the particulare cpu core you get as well.

Many of the 700E at 933 or more are not capable of posting at default voltage. In that case, they wont work on that board, since the CUSL2 does not load the voltage you set in bios until right after post, but right before windows. Fortunately, I've had some good CPUS.

I've read most if not all of your comments about the cusl2. I set one up about 2 weeks ago and have been very happy with it. I do have one problem that I have not seen discussed. When I try to go into the BIOS it hangs - the only action is the clock ticking away. I have to hit the reset switch to continue. It hangs about 9(?) times out of 10. It doesn't seem to be related to temperature - it hangs - or works - from a cold start or restart after several hours on. I have not been able to get thru to ASUS. And I thought -

Installation went much smoother with w2000 than with w98.

Thankyou mitso. I hope you have found my posts useful.

With regards to your BIOS hang problem, I have noticed that this happens if you enter the BIOS too quickly during the post, before the IDE devices have been detected. The BIOS will appear to have hanged, but it may be that it is simply waiting for the IDE devices to be detected/enumerated. This can seem to take up to 2-3 minutes, afterwhich the StartUp sequence portion of the BIOS will update with the hard drives and CDROMs.

I think the new BIOS should fix your problem. I personally have only used the 1003 Final BIOS for a very short period, and have been using the 1004 Beta 003 BIOS until now; I have not noticed the "hang" happening to me for a long time.

Hi Andy,
I installed the new bios - no change.
I then pulled one card at a time and checked.
I finally wound up with only a new video card in pci2.
Nothing left but the keyboard and mouse.
It couldn't be the keyboard! IT WAS!
All cards are in as they were. Bios is now alive -
six times in a row!

There are quite a number of performance enhancements between 1003 and 1006. Most of them actually came in at 1005 Beta 006 though.

As for actual fixes, I think it would be best to wait for ASUS's website to update.

Updated but had problem with error message concerning A20 and missing himem.sys. In addition there is no change in the huge discrepancy in recorded temperature.

OK, I successfully flashed it to 1006. But now, I keep getting kicked out of AOE, within seconds of it starting.
