I put in the cpu 1800 athlon XP & fan, along with video card. I am not getting a beep or a posting. The power supply is 320W. I tried plugging the cable to raid and I also tried to IDE 0. The cpu fan comes on and is running. I am using anWestern Digital HDD, which is an old 12 gig. All I have is the HDD hooked up. I think the connectors are alright since the system does power up the cpu fan.

What should I try next.

And your RAM is in too, right? First ideas: unplug the HDD from the motherboard, push down hard on the AGP card to ensure that it makes it past the second set of contacts in the AGP slot, and double-check that your RAM is fully into its slot all the way across. It's also possible that the underside of the board is grounding out on a part of your case, so you might want to try running the mobo outside the case if it still won't run.

The board could also fail to POST if the CPU overheated right away. Do you have the heatsink on in the correct direction, and did you take the plastic tab off the square of thermal compound (if your heatsink had one)?

I also just noticed in your other thread that you paid $62 for the board, so I assume it's a "refurbished" one? If it won't run, it might be a dead board that Newegg tried to resell, gambling that it was really ok and the previous owner simply didn't know what they were doing.

edit: I have some more things to check if the previous ones didn't work...

for some reason my board wouldn't turn on with both my CDROMs hooked up (dvd & burner) until I had my 430W PSU... try everything mechBgon said first, but try unplugging unnecessary things that might be halting it, like floppy and cdrom drives. ;) I hope it's not a dead board since/if it was refurb in the situation he described as a possibility.
