New Assimilations

I'd like to say a hearty hello to the 25 new 1.9 ghz p4s that just showed up.

As the network manager, I decree that something should be loaded on them to max out processor usage, to test for stability during the warranty period, and for the public good.

Let's see, what can I load..... Oh, yeah... Seti...

Each of these will give me around 5 a day, take off 5 pcs to account for those that will complain about a sluggish system, and I will have to run it only at night, add in the 70 or so I already average, at 5 per pc a day, I should be up to around 170 wu's a day. Maybe a little more on the weekends.

Maybe I can finally catch LANMAN for good... It'll probably be next week before all 25 pcs are ready to go, but I'm willing to wait.

So it's not Bandai numbers, but every bit helps. WU!WU!WU! Go TeAm!

I'm thinking I'll be close to maxed out there as well, maybe a few more ghz here and there, but i've got a couple of p4 mobos at home that will soon take the place of some old slot a systems.

Main image file ghosting up now, then i'll be cloning systems like there's no tomorrow. Okay, so it will be tomorrow.

Race sounds like fun, we'll get it together once i'm up and running next week. I might need to adjust my previous estimate for the MTR posted a while ago by Tarca.

(/me takes the opportunity to jump in and say that I just got the case/ECS L7SOM mobo/128M PC2100 DDR/XP1600...etc...to work on this weekend......oh, and add the mobo that should be here tomorrow for the Celeron 1000...and there is 2.4GHz (AMD + Intel) added! ...nothing like the fantastic increases by LastKnight...)

better the ones I did yesterday, and they're only running GUI cuz they're all round a friends, but I'll get the CLI as a service soon. Is it the flexinstaller which does this?

btw, I do run CLI on home machines

To get the best performance out of these machines make sure to use mofunk@softcom.net as the e-mail for the workunits! This is VERY important to do. Otherwise you may not be getting top performance out of these units!

Estimate should be pretty close to right. I had 3 of 25 come out of the box bad, so my production's slowed a tad. also had a 3 hr power outage at my home fleet last night, so I may be pushing 170-180 before everything's said and done.

These 1.9's are doing better than I expected, averaging around 4.5 hrs per work unit, some of the easier units complete in under 4 hours. Now, if I could only get them to replace the 3 that were broken out of box, and if I could get my users to quit shutting them down at night ("are you sure there's a difference between shut down, and log off, because I didn't think shut down actually shut the computer off..?")

I will likely be averaging over 200 a day once these things get ironed out. the two power outages this week at my house haven't helped either. Matter of fact, my home fleet's down right now, along with every other piece of electronic equipment at my house. Gotta like having all these problems, and still having 90 wu's completed by the time i get to work
