I wonder if we will see a whole year go by before ATI is capable of producing either a similar configuration of hardware, or something that's twice as fast. Theoretically with their 18 month refreshes we won't be seeing new cores until Fall 05, but if SLI really does offer all the performance they say it does, we'll see the FX vs Radeon 9x00s all over again but companies switched.

Steve Sims: Initial roll-out is targeted at System Builders. Retail versions of SLI-bundled graphics boards will be available later this Fall.

I don't feel it at all childish to claim that this is nothing more than nV promotional material with facts about the tech thrown in. I do not seem to be the only one who sees it as such either. That you do not agree is your prerogative, which I respect, and I only require the same of others. So let's just put the disagreement behind us as that's the adult thing to do and move on to more constructive dialogues, shall we?
BTW, I beta test for nV and mod for a nV specific web site so it's not as though I'm some Canuck with a chubby for ATiI just call them like I see them, and when I don't see them, I make them up
The value on a $400 AGP card will plummet no more because of SLI than the value of a $400 card would normally plummet. If we were to apply your logic to the entire industry, ATi might as well shut down since it doesn't appear to have a multi-gpu or multi-card solution to compete against nVidia's SLI for this generation. Anyone who buys computer components (especially video cards) with the expectation of being able to sell at the same price they paid is in idiot. There is always a cost involved with buying the new technology early, but the longer you have it the more you get for your money. For those of you who have already spent $400 or so on a new AGP card, get read to sell it before its value plummets
