These new models look nice, and they now have coolers to fit nearly all newer model cards from both ati and nvidia including X800 and 6800 series as well as some of the other slightly older nvidia cards like gf4/5700/5900 and older radeons 9500 series up. Pricing starts at $24.99 (and up) + shipping.

Nice review here

Where to buy:

Newegg

FrozenCPU

Cooler Guys
NV 5 Silencer (6800) Instock at Coolerguys $29.95

Jab Tech (on sale - 6800 series $28.85 USPS Priority Mail or $29.59 shipped UPS)

PC Toys (Back in stock for 6800 series $29.95)

$45? They gotta be kidding. I'm sure it'll come down to around $25-30 when other places start getting them.

$51 shipped for a X800 or 6800 Ultra VGA cooler? Geez if vendors price gouging the actual cards wasn't enough :(

I agree. At these prices it wouold be cheaper to, say buy an x800 xt over the pro, and keep the warranty, rather than trying to OC the x800pro.

They are definately expensive at the current pricing but do have other benefits other than overclocking, namely near silent operation, and excellent cooling that exhausts out the back of the case resulting in lower case/cpu/overall temps.

This is way over MSRP, specifically the 6800 version. Not really hot. A few weeks ago I would have considered a 6800GT at MSRP hot, but not over. Check prices next week when everyone else gets their stock. I know SVC will have them, and not at 60% over MSRP.

I agree. The prices at newegg are too high. They are just selling high because nobody else sells them yet. Maybe they'll sell a couple at that price. Good for them. Not to me though. Give it a week or two. That's my plan anyway.

50 bux for a VGA silencer???? Just don't buy it...it's only worth 20-25 for the GTs... I got mine for 12 shipped that fit my Radeon 9700 Pro.

These aren't the same as the Rev 1, 2, or 3 models. Those are aluminum heatsinks. These new ones are copper. Big difference. Plus some of them have special shaped plates that touch the ram chips and act as really big ram/gpu heatsinks.

I think the "Hot" part of the deal is for the classic v3 Silencers.. I'm bummed as I just bought one a week ago at the old price. Ah well...

The new Silencers mentioned are not "Hot" deals, just mentioned as an FYI as far as I can tell...

Anyway, good deal on the old silencer, especially if you are looking at milking a bit more out of your old 9800pro level cards... xt flash anyone?

Regardless Newegg is price gouging and this is not a hot deal.

The MSRP varies between $24.95 and $29.95 for the different revisions of the cooler. So the price should be that or less. I'll wait for SVC to carry them.

Big difference in MSRP and these Newegg's prices, bud. Newegg is ~$50. MSRP (i.e. paying MSRP is higher than you should be able to find it for) is <$30.

NOT a hot price!

Copper isn't an ice cube for temperatures, you know. "Oh wow it's got copper! Hey, there's only a two degree difference! WHAT A GYP!"

Am I the only one to nice the $1/$2 shipping charges being added to many newegg components?

That question was rhetorical, btw...no response necessary

Wow...ceramic bearings. Those thing will last forever!

FrozenCPU is $42 after shipping. Still $10 cheaper than Newegg, but I'll wait for SVC and maybe find another excuse to visit the south bay and pick it up.

I believe the older vga silencer revision 3 will fit it. Newegg has it for $17 shipped or get it at svc.com (with coupon on their front page) for $10+s/h.

Hot Deal? This could simply be an announcement made in the cooling forum, right?

From what I could tell on compatibility list, NV Silencer 4 will fit 5900 non-ultra/ultra as well as 5950 ultra. The 5900XT model (nv silencer 3) looks to be a little different in design.

Half the posts on this forum don't fit the description of a true hot deal (just look at all the x800 and gf6800 threads, very few are actually a hot deal as most are just instock msrp offerings). If mods want to move it to a discussion forum or something thats fine, so far its just a collective list of instock offerings and will be updated as more places/better prices are found.

Good to see the ATI coolers have the little square bit over the GPU core to clear the shim. That was a weakness of the previous version where you had to put an extra thick layer of thermal goop to have contact between the core and the heat sink.

All I know is there's no goddamned way I'm violating my 6800GT's warranty to slap one of these on.
