Which ibook do you have? How is the performance of 10.2 on it? Is it noticably speedier? (ill be getting 10.2 when it comes out and possibly sooner...)

Sudheer Anne, perhaps you should pay attention to the comments made by apoppin in this thread, which led to a member's banning. There may be no specific rule against "thread crapping" in this forum but the point he made still stands. Just because this forum is oriented towards x86 PC's doesn't give anyone free reign to terrorize anyone who wishes to discuss other platforms. You've repeatedly shown in just about every mac thread started on this board that your only purporse in posting is to thread-crap. Why dont you just ignore the threads? There's only about 3 of them a month, it cant be that hard.

Otherwise, as has been said, make some new points. Its pretty pathetic that you feel the need to hunt down every mac thread and crap in it without the intention of posting anything of value.

It's pretty speedy on my iBook 600 (older version). I've got 640 MB RAM. Mind you it's not lightening fast, partially because my iBook can't use Quartz Extreme, but the Finder feels significantly snappier than X.1. Part of that is the fresh install, but even with an X.1 fresh format the Finder seemed a bit sluggish to me. Not so any more.

Plus Sherlock is now pretty cool. Check this out: Sherlock

Oh, and if you haven't tried it, you should try Microsoft Remote Desktop. Works much faster than Virtual PC obviously. See here: Remote Desktop

Apple has some interesting ways of showing a "profit". The interest on $4 Billion in cash can go a long way come earnings reporting time.

Admittedly, I've not been a fan of the Mac platform for a very long time, but I do have to say that the new Apple Xserve boxes are rather impressive for their features, and I think Apple has taken a very positive step forward by embracing UNIX to make their products more scalable into networks of mixed configurations. 😉

I'm not going to say that I'm willing to give up all of my x86 PCs, but I am going to take a closer look at what's going on in Apple land. 🙂

It's funny, the XServe actually reminds me of another rack-mount server made by a graphics computer company. Several years ago, SGI was trying to expand its base and came out with a rack-mount box. We got one where I worked and I was pretty excited since I am both a graphics and a networking guy. Long story short, we hear almost nothing of SGI these days.

thank you mani, thats the point i was getting at. alot of companies that have lots of cash are able to hide loss alot better. and lucky before you bash me, you should really do some market research.


are you a day trader? probably not. Do you have 120k ira account at age 21? probably not. i rode the nvidia wave and got out in time. now i have money to pay for grad school or dental school.

the artilce you dug up is decent, but you really need to read earnings reports to figure out whats going on. that article you got says "we hope to break even" that means if they don't, they will lose money. - whichi in all likely hood will happen. and its not just apple that is riding the knife of profit, all tech stocks are hurting.

also most of apple sales lately are accounted for by overseas sales.
