For the low, low, bargain basement price of $3500, you too can own 23" of flat paneled monitor goodness. For the ridiculous, we must be crazy to offer something this cheap even though it doesn't come with the ginsu knife price of $2500 you can get 22" of flat monitor goodness.

(sorry if this is a repost; search didn't turn up anything).

23"

Anyway, I'd get one if I had a couple hundred thousand lying around and no use for it :)

i'm guessing its DVI through an nvidia or ati card, i don't see whats so different. i know apple used to have its own port and you needed to use a converter.

from apple's site, it only looks like it works with the Mac's proprietary Graphics Interface.

for $3500, why don't you get 3 17" lcds and a nice radeon glfire or other workstation graphics card?

yeah, all apple brand monitors use a propietary interface and won't work with a PC.

frankly I think that Apple loses money on these displays... so that they can try to capture some market share away from M$.

There are adapters out there that allow you to use Apple's monitors with PCs.

AFAIK such a thing does not exist for using their LCD's.

Someone had a whole tech-project website going on trying to get the 22" digital cinema display working with a PC, and AFAIK they never did get it working.

You can hook up the apple monitor to a pc. I have a Apple Cinema Display 22" hooked up to my PC right now. Go over to Dr. Bott <www.drbott.com>, you will need the DVIator and a video card with a DVI port. It works great.

That thing is beautiful. I saw it hooked up to a PC at CompUsa and the display quality is uncomparable. Of course the price is too. Makes my Planar look sad

I think Apple are losing their marbles with that price. If your going to be spending that kind of money you wouldnt begrudge spending a few hundred dollars more and getting a much larger Plasma screen that will have better contrast ratio and brightness.
I feel sorry for anyone who gets suckered into buying this.

You must be kidding... there are tons of LCD's on the market that cost more than twice what the Apple costs.

Wow! After 4 years of working with Macs at my college's IT Helpdesk I have never seen this website! (drbott.com) They have some sweet stuff over there that I know my college IT people would love. There is a lot of crossover between Mac and PC at my school, so new devices to make that easier are always desired!

As for the 23" display, the only person I know who has one at my college is the secretary in the IT department. She uses it to be able to view all of her spreadsheets at once. HA! If only she knew what that display was capable of!
