alright, i bought a PS1 for my little sister from these boards about 2 years ago. the guy had installed a mod chip in it, which i thought was nice because i have backed up my sis's games (which does come in handy when she steps on the cds sometimes).

anyway, i got her a newer game for christmas and upon loading it has some message that comes up "Software terminated: Possible console modification",, or something like that.

I know some people are going to cry 'lock' maybe, but how can I get around this? is it possible?

Anti-mod chip games like that have been around for a few years. You'll have either remove the mod chip, get a cracked version, or get a newer mod chip that can defeat its protection.

oh i see, i thought it was a new thing or something. and i thought maybe all new games had it. ill look into a new chip i suppose, but that seems like a big hassle, but ill try it.

If you know how to install mod chips just get a stealth mod; they're like $10 at most. Or you can get a game enhancer that plugs into the back of the PS1. You can use it to play backups and use it as a game genie; you also will never get that mod message. They run about $15. The only thing about the plug mod is you have to swap in a real game before putting in the backup; it's not hard though.

screw stealth mods. If you have an Action Replay unit, there is a site you can go to that has codes for every protected game. Just enter them into the gameshark-like screen on the AR, boot game, and viola, security bypassed.

Cool. Does this work for the AR emulator discs? I have a PSOne and my friend is borrowing my PSX so I can't use a real AR.
