I just recieved all the parts for my first home-built machine. After I put them all together, and after a couple of trial runs, I get no video output. I have tried two different monitors and 2 different vid cards. The alternates I used are both known to be working. I have tried unplugging the HDD and the DVD drive, along with the case fans. It turns on and powers up the fans, It hits the DVD drive, but that is it...there is nothing on the monitor, it doesnt even wake from sleep mode in fact. Here are my system specs:

ASUS P5N-E SLI
Intel E-6300 C2D
RAIDMAX SMILODON Case 500W Power Supply
Western Digital Caviar250GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
ASUS DRW-1608P3S DVD drive
MSI NX7900GT-GeForce 7900GT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 VIVO PCI Express x16 Video Card
Kingston 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory

I am considering RMAing the mobo, but Im not sure Im not doing something wrong. I spent over a month researching this setup. I was a bit put off by the mobo reviews Ive read, but I thought I would take a chance. I have been using computers since my first one...a TRS-80 Model 2, but this is the first one Ive built.

I dont ask for help easily, but I need some now, can someone help me?

Reset the bios with the jumper just to make sure it's not some lame setting. The other thing I can think of is try a different pci-e slot. You've got an SLI board so maybe you've got the card in the wrong slot.

I resest the CMOS, and Ive tried the known card and my new one in both +16 slots...not sure what else I can do...

I tried it with 2 crts, one vga with an adapter, one with dvi direct. I never got an output from the video at all. the fan is running on the card, so it has power, Im just not getting any video out that I can tell.

I'm not positive but maybe the board has SLI enabled (check the card) with only one card in there. I don't even remember if that causes problems but its worth looking into.

Unfortunately the board doesnt have any AGP slots. Tried 2 different cards, both of which work in my old machine.
