New AMD system, but what PSU?

Alright...I am ordering a new system in this coming week, however, I am unsure about my PSU. I hear that Antec and a few others are awesome, and others will make you regret your purchase the rest of your life. Anyway, I do not feel like doing the math to find out what exactly I need. (I have this $60 PC upgrading book that was purchased for me as gift last year...blah blah).

Mobo: Neo 2
2x512 PQI Turbo pc3200
Winchester 3200+
2x SATA 80 gig HDDs
1-2x PATA 80 gig HDD(s)
Radeon 9800 pro
Audigy Gamer
Lite-on-52x32x52
generic 1.44

That's about it. I was just going to buy a Thermaltake, but at this point I am not sure. I really wanted to limit the price to $60, but willing to go up to $80. So what do you guys think? Is there anything wrong with Aspire's ?-->This one..
Thanx.

dont go aspire. they're not that great. i recommend you get an enermax 350W or antec 430W or 480W. they are all great psu's. note that a quality 240W psu can easily handle your system, so a 350W is not the bare minimum. 🙂

I've got an Enermax 420 watt (Noisetaker) and it works great. However, the one I really want is THIS. It'll be my next psu purchase.

Hello fellow Enthusiasts!

My last video card was a 9800PRO and I had a lot of issues with my generic
450W PS. All my problems went away with a new Antec True Power 430W. They are great PS IMO, and very quiet.
99$ at CompUSA (you can probably find it cheaper online).
Good luck to you.

I would go with enlight or sparkle. I actually got a phone call from an enlight representative responding to an email. I returned a refurbished enlight 420w ps to newegg for replacement, and got a refund instead. The representative told me that if I had mailed the ps to enlight, they would have replaced it. First call I ever got from a power supply company. They make a 350w unit with 12cm side fan, which helps cool the cpu and runs quieter. I like that feature when overclocking. Sparkle, fortron, coolmax, and super flower all make power supplies with the single 12-14cm side fan. Coolmax has the best selection

sparkle/fortron 530watt

It's a beast.

If you don't plan to overclock too extremely, the sparkle/fortron 350watt should suffice quite nicely.

Anyone have any problem with the Antec Neo Power? I decided on it yesterday and am preparing to purchase it, along with all my other components, this evening. My reasoning for this choice was so that I would not have to upgrade my PSU in the future when changing motherboards. I like the plug in feature of the cables, too. Are there any cons that I am not aware of, other than the insane price?
