have you seen the big drop in thunderbird?

900 $151
950 $179
1.0 $199
1.1 $240
1.2 $285

a 1 gig for under $200

(these prices are from pricewatch)

i knew the intel price cut on the 10th was going to drop
the amd prices but this is even better than i had thought.

Eaxctly! I've got a pair of MSI 694D Pro boards here just waiting for cpus! Don't get me wrong.. I like AMD chips too, but so far, AMD still doesn't have any SMP compliant solutions! :(

Cheaper chips will surely help offset the price of a dual board if and when they ever come out.

/me is drooling on me keyboard, thinking about dual 1Ghz+ TBirds

Just as a warning guys...don't expect dual socket A board to be nearly as cheap as Intel GTL+ boards. The reason is simple: Most (read: 4-way and under multiprocessing systems) Intel systems have a SHARED BUS, which most of you know...this also means that adding another CPU doesn't require that many more traces to the chipset. The athlon uses EV6 - a point to point protocol, which requires as many traces on the motherboard for the 2nd CPU to the north bridge as were required for the first CPU to the northbridge. That means more wires, in the same amount of space. Expect > 4 layer PCB boards....possibly > 6 layers. That makes for some expensive mobo's....

the amd dual motherboard will cost more cause of the point to point
but it will also be faster than a single bus design.
