So i'm about to install an amd x2 5000 with its heatsink fan new out of the box. the manual says it comes iwth a thermal paste on the heatsink and it does. However i have some arctic silver 5 left over and was wondering if I should use that or if its too much. Its a big square paste on the bottom of the heatsink. Are the pastes that are pre applied good? thanks

Yeah, the pre-applied paste that AMD uses is good. At least it's much better than what Intel puts on their stock heatsinks. You'll be fine with it.

I would use the pre-applied paste. Noob tend to put too much AS5. My favorite thermal compound is the brush-on Zalman Z1...very easy to apply a thin coat to the heat spreader.
