Meh. I don't shop there often enough to notice what has really changed. It still looks mostly like the old layout. What I DO noticed changed I don't really care for all that much though. Having the "most recent" customer reviews column on the right side of the customer reviews section looks kind of cramped and out of place to me. They still have "Product Details" as the 4th or 5th row they display when IMNSHO it should be 2nd. Having all those rows of info right below the product about what other customers bought as well or with it looks horrible IMO but I don't think that's new. All that info should be lower down.

IMNSHO it should look like this at the very least and this is just moving some of their sections into a more logical order. They could do much better than even this:

looks the same to me?

Pretty much for me as well.

I wish they'd fix their fucking search engine. If I'm searching for an "intel i5-2500K," I don't want to see all Intel i5 processors, all motherboards that might fit that processor, and all pre-built computers that might have an i5 processor...

While their selection is far greater than someplace like Newegg, they should still go to a site layout and search engine that is more like Newegg's that allows better refinement in finding what I'm looking for. It's a PITA as it is now.

I almost never bother with site-specific searches.

Thats not accidental, its deliberate. They wanna shove as much crap down your throat as possible in the hopes you buy something, ANYTHING.
I had to go through a lot to disable the browsing history and those forced recommendations too.
But you still get a shitload of recommendations every time you buy something or add it to a wish list.

As for OP's issue, that layout has been around for a good two years, dunno why you just noticed it. But I agree its annoying they clutter the screen with shit. Local ads are mixed with offsite ads and you need to scroll through all that junk before you get to the reviews. If you have a large widescreen monitor its easy to see most of the stuff without excessive scrolling, but still annoying.

Amazon does so much tweaking, price testing and different-lay-out testing and so on, no two of us are ever seeing the same Amazon pages at the same time.

It has changed for me, but i am an amazon Prime member so it may just be because of that. I am liking the look so far, need some testing to see if it stacks up but so far so good.

Yeah, what has changed, I'm not noticing anything different?

I don't go there that often though, so I don't know if you're talking about some of the web 2.0 gloss they added or if there's something else?

Yeah, I was just thinking, its actually surprising how successful Amazon has been, as I've never really liked their layout, navigation, or search tools. But their prices have been competitive and service generally top notch so that alone generally makes them worth it, and more recent stuff like augmenting Prime and cloud storage is just extra icing and a cherry on top.

Most of the time I'm shopping Amazon its either cross-shopping (so comparing price) or I know exactly what I'm looking for.

I almost never bother with site-specific searches.

That can definitely help, its amazing how bad the search is on so many sites. Lately even Google's been annoying me some, but still generally much faster than using the site's own search function.

Dude nothing is different, I shop there everyday and have only seen subtle changes over time, never anything drastic. Gotta love that about Amazon.
