i dont know what happens to my deepcool castle ex 360 aio after cleaning it behaves weird and fan runs at 100 % speed randomly then goes back to normal. i now want to throw it away. is there any aircooler that can satisfy i9 10900k non oc. My case is corsair 780 t with asus 3 fan rtx 4070 oc and 2 ram slots occupied

I forgot to mention- I'd also recommend getting a Thermalright contact frame to minimize warping of both the mobo socket and the IHS of the CPU itself. It replaces the CPU socket retention frame that comes on the mobo, and is a much more solid hold. It improves the flat contact between the CPU and cold plate of whichever cooler you use.

It's apparently been an issue (the bending), and the contact frame is cheap. It was worth it to me for the peace of mind.

I never heard about that being an issue with that generation. I used on when I built my current rig. (i5-13600K on a MSI Z690 motherboard) Still not convinced it's a good thing. It seems like the contact frame is too tall...interfering with the cold place making contact with the CPU...but the paste spread LOOKS good, so maybe it's fine.

Which generation? 14th? It's still socket 1700; still the elongated, rectangular shape. The bending/warping issue was on the CPU itself, the IHS. Of course heavy air coolers have always had the chance of warping the board due to the weight with vertical mounting.

FWIW I thought the same thing as well when I first installed it, as far as not being flush and whether it would make good contact. I've not had a problem with it.

The o p has a 10th gen set up. That's LGA1200. The bending/warping MIGHT still be an issue, but I don't know if the Thermalright contact frame will work.

Yep, my bad. I confused it with another thread about the 14th gen i9.

this sounds like a PWM setting in bios.
Its probably selectable via bios config, and i do not think another heat sink using the same fan header will give you a fix for this.

This. I'd look into the bios to see if there is a fan step up/step down time: making it longer would smooth out these transitions. If the temperatures were fine and it seemed to be a fan thing, I'd look at that first before changing out the HSF.

I want to switch from 12400f to 13600kf soon. I'm thinking of taking the DEEPCOOL AK620, what is your opinion?

its a great sink... you should also check out the bequiet dark rock pro 5, which i feel is in the same class.
