Question New AIO Inkjet Printer or a Document Scanner?

I currently have an Epson XP-430 AIO Printer. It is "OK." Nothing special. However the scanning isn't great on it, as I need to scan multiple documents, 2 sided, at once.

My question is, is it better to go out and buy a document scanner (ie Epson Workforce Portable Duplex document Scanner) or buy a better AIO Printer. They both come out to $150-$250 dollars. Not sure what the better buy would be.

Do Document Printers do a better job at scanning since that is their only function?

My experience says that AIOs are a compromise of all functions. I prefer separate machines, but that is just my preference. I scan with an Epson V600 flatbed and print on separate laser and inkjet.

If you need to do serious scanning the Fujitsu Snap Scans are pretty high end. They even will capture the text on receipts and sort them for you.

Too rich for my blood. Don’t have that much to do

Not too mention that they last longer and are easier to replace down the line. It sucks when an AIO breaks one feature but the rest still works.

I recommend a Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300i https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008HBFADQ/ref=twister_B01FSTF20U?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

It's $250 but money well spent for someone who wants a great scanner.
