I've been thinking about getting a graphic card for a while now, but I don't know which one to get! So far I have two candidates: x850XT and 7800GS. If you have some card in mind that would suit for me, then please tell me! The card would be mainly used for heavy gaming. But anyway, which one would be better x850XT or 7800GS? I plan to overclock too, so which one would be faster when overclocked?
 
If the Microcenter deal for X850XT ever comes up again (189.99 AR), then I would say definitely go with ATI. But for now, 7800GS would be to be a better deal, simply beacuse every store is overpricing the X850XT & PE to hell.
 
Kinda depends.... If you are a serious FEAR player then the 850XT may make a better choice since ATI does better in FEAR than nVidia. If you are a big Doom3 fan then nVidia will play better. Otherwise they are pretty close in most other games in a stock card configuration. If you have no real preference then I would suggest going by which you can get cheaper. The 7800GS does have that SM 3.0 ability going for it though whereas the 850XT does not. Not sure if its important in games at that level of card though.
 
Thanks for your replies. Since I really don't have any preference when it comes to games, I think I'm gonna go with the cheaper one. And here in Finland it seems 7800 GS is the cheaper one.
