Hey guys

I'm looking at a new agp card to buy. It doesn't have the 4 prong female plug in like my old one does. My computer has the male & they plug in together. Do I have to get one with the female plug?

Thanks!

Ok, first, are you actually buying an AGP card, or are you just saying this bug in fact are looking for a PCI-E card?

As for the plug, do you mean the aux power plug?

Which card are you looking at?

The 4-prong plug is for extra power because a lot of video cards need more power than can be provided over the slot. If the card has no plug then it doesn't need the extra power.

Yes, it's an AGP card. And yes I believe the aux power plug. Smoblikat - Don't I have to buy an AGP card if that's what kind of port I have? And lagokc, thank you. Sounds like I'm good.

I have a 2005 computer that uses AGP, I upgraded it to an HD 4650, a couple years ago., which I do not recall having a power plug.
HP Compaq SNR1230NX Athlon XP 3200+
Given AGP card prices and performance an upgrade to an FM2 Motherboaed/CPU/Memory may be worth considering. Or a Pentium and PCIe2.0/3.0x16 video card.
