New age HDD controller board swap (specific experience?)

I have googled this and found mixed results. I bought 2 new ST375064AS drives. Drive 1 firmware 3.AAK fried while backing everything up in an external enclosure. Drive 2 firmware 3.AAE was going to be safe keep drive but now wondering if I should/could use it's board for Drive 1 recovery and upgrade with new TB drives in immediate RAID mirror setup or try to best bet on trying to buy a third drive with same firm to do recovery. I would much appreciate any direct advice from someone with experience with these drives and their inc hardware/firmware.

Best Regards!

I may be mistaken but I think that as long as the board model is the same they should be interchangeable (firmware revision should not affect interoperability). So the board from drive 2 should be able to be used to salvage the data from drive 1, assuming that the only thing damaged is the board and not the innards.
