Oh wait...

Honestly, I don't know what people have against Madden. I like it very much, been a loyal fan since 2000 version. Other than several exploits in online play I don't see any problems with it.

Its not madden that people hate, its EA. EA is trying to get a monopoly in the video game business and cares way more about money than the games it puts out. Look at BF2, that game still has so many problems yet they are already annoucing an expansion

Needless to say, Madden is still the best football game out there, next to Tecmo Super Bowl of course ;)

As someone else said, I don't have an issue with Madden, it's a fine game (I owned both Madden 2005 and NFL 2k5, though I admittedly did like 2k5 better). I just have a huge problem with a company winning not on the playing field, but buy removing the playing field itself.

I also have a big problem with the NFL allowing this too. It annoys me as much as them giving DirecTV sole access to NFL Sunday Ticket.

Well i don't like madden, not because of what EA did or stuff like that, just because i like the gameplay of the 2k series better. It's all subjective really. Obvioulsy madden is a great game, but ya, i just have alot more fun with the 2k series. Now for those that love the 2k series like me, i've read that they might make another football game but since they can't use the current nfl players, they're gonna use the legends or basically those players that retired since they're not in contract with the nfl. So i guess that's kinda cool. =)

I too preferred the 2k series over Madden, although I can't really give specifics as to why. I just liked the "look and feel" of the 2k series better.

as theLION said, it's all subjective.

And as disappointed as I am about not being able to buy NFL2k6 this coming season, it still won't stop me from purchasing Madden '06, because it's the best NFL game out there... It's just sad that it's also the ONLY NFL game out there. :( `

Don't get me wrong, I don't blame EA, and neither should anyone else. The NFL decided to offer an exclusive deal. If EA didn't jump on it, Sega's bid would've been accepted. No matter what EA would've done, we still would've had only one NFL game option.

I used to love Madden up untill last year. I enjoyed 2k alot more, in fact last year it felt as though Madden got worse than the previous year *overall gameplay*. 2k was the better product.

Oh yeah and the whole $19 vs $49.. I would be willing to bet that was the driving force behind the buyout. This is one case where the consumer is the real loser * All IMO of course*

The $20 price point for NFL2k5 was a one-year plan to entice people to try the Sega brand, and it worked. Sega had every intention of going back to $40-$50 this year, hoping that their increased fan base would continue.

But the "driving force behind the buyout" was the NFL, not EA. It was the NFL who approached the publishers.

The NBA looked into a similar arrangement, but found it would be more profitable for them to continue licensing to multiple publishers. I figure this is for two reasons... EA/Sega/etc wasn't willing to fork over enough cash. And there are many more NBA games out there (including all the "street" games).

I can only presume those of you who blame EA for this, must be equally upset with Sega for nabbing MLB rights.

Oh I wasnt aware of that. Nah, Im not one for rabit EA haters I just felt slighted since I liked the other game alot better. It did seem like some shens were going on, great product = $20, Average product = $50 then all of a sudden the cheaper product gets bought up by the more expensive one.
Sega's plan would have worked in my case. I would have gladly paid 50 bucks for 2k6 !

EVERY game has problems. It's just that EA is the biggest in the biz right now, so they are targeted by people looking for stuff to complain about. It's the same in the PC world with MS, they are the biggest, so they are the easiest target.

BF2 is a very popular game, expect it's flaws to be more outspoken than less popular games. Same with Madden.

I hate EA just for the fact that they decided that this year there is no NCAA for the 'Cube WTF :(

The last 2-3 versions of Madden I didn't like. I didn't even like NCAA last year but loved it the year before. I was really thinking about buying an xbox or PS2 last year just for Sega sports which are also not on the 'Cube anymore :(

The last Madden I enjoyed was Madden '93. That was the greatest Madden ever and even better than Tecmo Bowl. I've been 2k fan ever since the Dreamcast release.

I prefer the Sega football games and the EA baseball games. I didn't know that Sega grabbed up the MLB rights though. I hope their game will be good.

For seven years, Take Two Interactive has exclusive third-party rights to video games using the MLB brand. Unlike Electronic Arts' recent and controversial deal with the NFL, Take Two is leaving some room for competition: first-party developers (i.e., Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo) can still use the MLB goods. The contract officially begins in 2006.

I'm with you on the NFL/MLB game preferences. Sucks to be us, huh? :(

I hate EA as well.

Been playing Madden forever though, still got the original. I wish they would focus more on online play though, people always just find some kind of glitch to exploit, or run with the quarterback on every play, it's really annoying when you know how fun it is to play a real game of Madden with another solid competitor who doesn't play like an 11 year old. Really hard to find a person who will play a straight game with you though. Plus i don't like it that when other players quit or disconnect it puts a quit/disconnect on your personal record, like it was your fault.

Hope they improved the graphics a bit, i am really tired of seeing players walk directly through other players and crap like that, doesn't seem like they're ever going to fix that though. When a football flies directly through a defender's hand, it really takes away from any realism that they try so hard to capture. Also i wish the crowd didn't always look like paper cutouts...what can you do though. I guess if they were realistic like it would slowdown the game a ton. They could put some of the crowd on the stairs though, it kind of amazes me they haven't thought of that. How often do you see a full stadium with no one walking up and down the stairs? :p - I've always thought madden games weren't too good graphicly, the players don't look realistic at all. Still got a long long way to go before madden becomes more realistic i suppose.

It comes out in a week.
