What did you use for calibration? BTW, I recently switched from LCD to Plasma and don't regret it one bit.

I chose it because:

Location of where it was going. Basement...where there are no backlights to show any glare on the screen...cause it is glossy.

Price: Went to Best buy had it for 3049 on sale from 3899...got them to match Amazon.com cause I said I was going to buy it there. They had a 12% off coupon but they said it would be applied to the regular price of 3899...I was like no way and was walking out before the supervisor stopped me. So I got it for 2818 after tax in Maryland.

Picture: the blacks are really good and the 120 Hz looks great on animated movies with the auto motion plus.

I got a calibration DVD from AVS Forum. I am sitting only about 10 feet from the television. Obviously settings are subjective, but I am VERY happy with the picture.

How about the sound? I think I see some speakers in one picture, but I'm not sure.

The sound is pretty good and it has the auto sound leveling so no commercial is too loud. I have my home theater hooked up to it and using the optical out from the set. For television speakers, not too bad. They are on the side with the clear plastic directing it to t he viewer. There are also a couple of larger round speakers on the back to give it the surround xt feature.

I was just briefing the 300+ page thread at AVS forum about this set. Is the triple ball effect fixed on the newer sets? Looks like maybe with 2004 + firmware. I don't know how much I'd use it to watch live TV anyway though.

big LCD's are fine, but they are fragile, I have a whopper of a 36" CRT that I can drop kick when I loose playing Street Fighter on my Dreamcast. I kick the shit out of it and it doesn't budge a millimeter. If I had an LCD or Plasma? BAH! both would probably stop working after 1 simple missile drop kick from me. My CRT has stood up to hundreds of them and is still doing strong.

Yay for no-name $400 TVs from Fry's.'s his 32" Emprex  720p LCD; it doesn't look half bad with the contrast up, I think I'm gonna get one of those calibration DVDs you were talking about OP, how much was it?

OP, we have the exact same TV, except my family's is about a year older (yours might be a newer model). We love ours and I can't wait to go home from college and watch some glorious HD on it.

I had the TBE on the 52 and then called samsung and they emailed me a new firmware. The effect has pretty much been fixed. I have been pretty fortunate to not experience any of the stutter effect. I think Samsung finally got it right. The blacks are practically equivalent to the Plasma.
