New A/V Setup ?'s

Ok I have a 36" TV with 2 s-video and 1 video component input.

I have just purchased a new reciever and have never really used a reciever with component switching built in.
My question is how exactly should I connect everything?

Here is my plan.
Component output to component input on tv
Component output on dvd player to dvd component intput (this still leaves me 1 component input for the future)
s-video video output to s-video input on tv
coax audio from dvd player to dvd audio input
toslink from dtv to opitcal 1
s-video from dtv to video 1 input.

Look ok?
I'm connecting a Onkyo 760 setup.

what other then a receiver and DVD player do you have?

personally i run all my stuff through the receive cause it has enough component and opticial ins to do so and then i run it out from there, everything in stero, very nice

id run component from DVD - receiver for video and a toslink for sound
component to TV
im guessing that the dtv doesnt have component?
if not run svid + toslink into receiver and svid to TV in

Nope dtv doesn't have component, other than HDTV models do they make any others that have component output?

I have a VCR but that is being replaced by my HTPC, which will use toslink into reciever for sound, and s-vid for video.

Looks good, although when it comes to component video I personally prefer direct connections (I would have hooked the DVD players' component outs directly to the TV).

It's a little annoying to have to switch the video input separately (assuming you don't have a remote with macro capability) but I'm paranoid about video signal degradation and it allows you to use one set of cables instead of two (so it's cheaper).

Yeah so far I've seen some cheap ($20 price ranger) componenet cables that seem pretty good.

I do have a remote with macro capability, I have the Sony RM-AV2100 and plan on upgrading to the AV3000 sometime soon, or that new Pronto with wireless if I ever decide to drop more on my remote than my whole home theater setup, lol!
