Question New 980 Pro

I have a brand new 500GB 980 Pro. Just initialized it today. I ran ATTO and Crystal Disk mark, and got the expected results. But I opened Samsung Magician and noticed it said 451GB written. I thought that was odd for a brand new drive. I then ran the benchmark in Samsung Magician once, and the number jumped to 622GB written.

Do benchmarks really write that much to the drive? I ran a bench on my 2.5 SSD, and didn't see the numbers go up anywhere near that much, about 40GB.

Wondering if anyone else noticed this?

Depends on the benchmark and maybe other factors, like capacity. Also the amount written isn't necessarily relatable because you have write amplification and further, SLC vs. TLC writes (and the 980 PRO has some static SLC which it always writes to first).
