246 out of the box? Sorry, but I'm a little skeptical here. You might want to list what else you got on that thing before I give you any props... or jabs...

Thats cool and all but only running at 1700Mhz? Wouldnt it be better to up the multipier to lets say 13X and raise the FSB to 185-200 and get 2.2+ Ghz?

Maybe you or someone can explain why some people lower there mulpier and crank up the FSB unless of course the person cant run the mulipier that high and get the FSB very high to make up the differance of the higher mulipier?

well, BuckMaster. i just did it for testings sake. im definately not gonna run it like that hehehe also, higher fsb gives more bandwidth (i think) and more performance.

I`d take his word for it... :) I have 2 that did 245fsb out of the box with no modds... And another that does 235fsb out of the box (from newegg no less...) I did cooling modds to my first one and it made no difference other than piece of mind that things were alot cooler at speed... All 3 that I have are Rev 1.1 and are not newer C1`s from what I can tell...

dinde... welcome to speed... :D

I started that way with not so good ram (just PC2100 and ran it at a measly 60%...? maybe 66$...?) That is a good OC for default voltage for sure... :) I ended up with some twinmos/twinmos PC3200 DDR ($59 per 256meg at the time) I think my next will be some PC3700...? (not the Twinmos though... more like Geil or OCZ...?)

Posts like this make me feel pretty frustrated. I have an A3 stepping 8RDA+. I put a passive cooler on the MPC2-T chip. I put AS2 on the SPP cooler. I have decent CPU cooling (HHC-001 with AS2). I have Corsair XMS PC3200. And my system locks up in windows within 10 minutes at any FSB over 197MHz.

But I do have SMD grabbers on the way and an Alpha PAL 8045 also. I sense an easy 200MHz FSB coming soon.

Congrats on getting a lucky board dinde.

you're not the only one...now that i did the vdd mod, i can get above 200fsb without any screen flickers, etc....but now i think my memory (corsair xms 3200c2) is not up to par. it won't run at 2,2,2,6 at any voltage prime stable above 200fsb. i have to relax the timings if i want 200+ fsb. i'm still constantly tweaking though, since i don't always have alot of free time to play with the computer. i also have an A3 stepping.

It would be much better to check on the northbridge markings. The SB has virtually nothing to do with how high your FSB will go.

What kind of ram is everyone using and processors? I wonder how far Geil's new PC3500 Dual Channel Kits can go, considering what kind of system the review was using. If only my processor was a DLTC3!

Then why does the A3 run @ much higher FSB? then the A2? most A2 cant hit 200fsb! anyway I am hoping for the C1 & A4 bridges!

The new C1 does have a heatspreader, the "pilot" C1 chips have none.
