tried the demo on my new 8800 ultra superclocked. first game i played on my ultra thats dx 10, it wasnt even on dx 10 mode. I cant handle resolutions above 1280 with 4x to 8x aa, while staying above 30fps in the demo benchmark of lost planet. wow, lol sad, i guess it has been over a year now sine 8800 has been out. glad i didnt play 950 for the 8800 ultra, i cant belive it still costs 850-900 in stores though. ripping people off.

You must be doing something wrong or something is wrong with your system. Because I get that much with my rig in sig at 1440x900 and 4xaa .

So, just so I have this correct, you are stating that even though every single respected hardware and gaming site is getting astronomical benchmark scores with this card the fact that you got slow frame rates with one demo that this card is a piece of crap and nVidia is ripping people off? Did you let the hardware reviewers, who spent hundreds of hours testing these cards in controlled environments, know of your findings so they can all pull their reviews down?

Since, based on one demo you tried, you are letting everybody know this card is a huge rip off I have to ask what card you recommend we use if we want good gaming performance?

i would recommend the nvidia 25,050 with 6000 gigs of ram clocked at 186k ghz with 40,000 stream processors. okay but seriously lol, u do have a point balane. to JPB i was running 8xaa and 16af and everything else max at 1024, i think i could do 1280 with those settings might go slightly below 30 in the odd occasions, any higher res with the same settings and i would dip below 30 alot in the benchmark.

u have had ur 8800 gtx since last NOV, damnnnn lol. and i just bought the 8800 ultra last weekend LOL, i have money for nvidias geforce 9 but i guess i can still wait a while and see how the 8800 ultra holds up, might as well milk it out its moneys worth. If 8800 ultra cannot handle farcry 2, thats when i buy nvidias next gen whenever that is. I saw a video clip of far cry 2, the settings all look maxed, very lush jungle. I assume its running on 8800s, it was very very smooth.

I get over 30fps mostly with my 8800gtx stock on the demo. Settings are 16x filtering, 8x QXAA or whatever, and all settings at high. I run my 4200+ at 2.8ghz and have 4GB of 6400 ram.

I assume that isn't bad...? lol

What R your system specs? CPU, RAM, overclock? etc????/

qx6700 extreme quad 2.66ghz default till i get liquid cooling (only got this cpu because it was for 500 instead of 1200), cant find ultra 120 extreme heatsink anywhere in store . 2 gig buffalo ddr 2 800 overclockable ram. 680i sli tr (changing to asus p35 soon).

Modern games are going to strain an 8800 @ 8xAA and 16xAF. 4xAA and 8xAF are as high as I go with most games. Adjusting these should have an impact.

Consider more memory. 3-4 gigs is the sweet spot for Vista. If you can't do more memory, try Readyboost and a fast 2-4 gig USB drive.

Tweak Vista memory usage, getting rid of unnecessary services and such. A good guide is the Tweakguides Vista version

i run 30fps constant with rig in sig @ 1680 1050 4xaa 8xaf. everything on highest except HDR is on medium and shadow resolution on medium. shadow res is the real killer for me.

edit: im running the retail version tho.

Hmm, I have near exact rig but don't remember the demo being that sluggish. I guess it was. I didn't play long, mainly wanted to see DX10. [sigh]

Man, gone are the days of 100+ fps in good shooters I suppose. I'm loving HL2 all over again with Orange Box right now. 🙂

Don't let the performance of this game be the the judge of your system.
It is basically really bad port.

I mean, the Xbox 360 can't even run the Orange Box games at 60 fps.
