So, I could not resist the $600 7950x from antonline, so number 3 ! It will be upgrading a 5950x on an x470 motherboard. Going to try to just plug it in and hope windows works good. 32 gig of 6000 CL30 EXPO memory (my 3rd set, they work so good !).

Cheaper 7950X CPUs coming...
One in the hand is worth 10 of a RUMOR of 2 in the bush. Newegg will have it for $574 on the 21st. If they are not sold out ? For what we do here , its 50% faster than a 5950x. And if the project uses avx512- then its like 10 times faster.

Rumor mill has it AMD is subsidizing retailer promos for Black Friday.

At $554 I'd probably pick one up.

But the motherboard early adopter tax also needs to end in order for AM5 adoption to start in any significant numbers.

my memory that was $280 is now $220, NO black friday (6000 CL 30). The latest motherboard I got was $300 (close to AM4) and if it works out, I will go lower on the next. The first 2 were $500 each, but great power and NVME support.

And based on performance numbers (at 142 watt -25 CO setup) and 85c max, you can't lose with a 7950x if you want multicore performance long term.

OK, the cooler is here, but I am tired and hurt from all the computer swapping so far. The 2683v3 is getting replaced with the 7950x, and the 12700F is getting decommissioned. It's too much wattage for 8 cores. I love the new CPU cooler. $50 for a 250 watt, dual fan, and SO easy to install. It will have a 3070TI from the 12700F.20221125_155539[1].jpg

Is that a DeepCool AK620? Those appear to be decent.

Anyways, got plans for the 12700F? Is that a "K" or no? Either way, PM me, I'm interested.

It's to upgrade an entry-level current-gen gaming PC with a 12100(F) in it. It already has a Z690 mobo installed.

Yes, a deepcool ak620. So far I am impressed. But I have not turned on the box yet. Thats when I will know if it worth cheaping out on the 7950x.

PM me an offer on cpu and motherboard and ram.

Its up and running ! Quite the task for some reason. Probably because I did not have a brand new nvme to start with. I tried an upgrade and it failed miserably.

I am on a regular SSD, and damn its slow.... NVME coning Monday, might have to redo it alll.
