Just a suggestion, double check your bios settings for the onboard integrated graphic card and make sure the boot priority is set properly. Recently fixed a comp because the bios somehow reset, and the default was to boot with onboard, resulting in a black screen. I changed the bios settings to boot with PEG first and put the card back in w/ power connectors and it booted right up.

I just used a GT 220 to test the slot with, and it is giving me video output. So my PCIE slot is ok.

I also just switched my power supply and the 7870 to a different MSI motherboard and the computer booted up fine. So it isn't my PCIE slot on my xfx board because the gt 220 works...it isn't my power supply...it must be some kind of configuration or bios update issue with my xfx board...unless the 7870 is not compatable with my XFX board

Just to end this. Found out from an XFX rep that my board does not support my card....A good thing to check before buying a new GPU! -_-. Honestly though, I know the system is old but I now have that same card running in an ASUS m2n68-am-se2 that is older than my XFX board. And because of the terrible support from XFX that was probably the last XFX motherboard ( maybe even product ) i'll buy. ASUS for sure when I upgrade. Thanks again everyone for the help.
