New 74 gig Raptor wont let me overclock like before

OK so I've had this system for over a year now. It's a amd64 3200+ running at 2.5 ghz on a msi k8n neo2 platinum and I was running an 80 gig IDE maxtor drive. I decided to get a SATA raptor drive and install my OS on it and I had a hell of a time setting it up, but it's up and running now. My problem is that now it wont boot at 2.5 ghz, it gives me a "disk read error, press ctrl-alt-del to restart". I set it to 2.4 and it barely got into windows before freezing. Dropped it to 2.3 and it seems alright now. Can anyone tell me why it's doing this or a possible way to fix it? Thanks.
