Just got a pair of 6990's to replace 5870 trifire. I love AMD, or did. 2 hours in I still haven't installed the drivers properly. AMD have created a labyrinthine update website that means quadfire on 6990 is a real struggle to get up and running. Will report back-but yesterday playing Arma 2 with just one card for a few minutes was good. Panning quickly on usual setting much more smooth than with 3 5870's as in sig. Otherwise 3-5 fps slower.
Many crashes on installation and general instability both cards at 880 have failed to get going. Now trying but probably due to less than thorough old driver removal. Any drivers for 6990 quadfire??

Now we're getting there, beer and installing drivers don't mix well!
Tried to go straight for 880 but reverted to 830 and cleaned all old drivers more thoroughly. Cards not too noisy at 70%
now to try some games.

Always best to thoroughly sweep your drivers before installing new cards.

You might maybe PM this guy pcm81 as he's running the same setup.

Maybe it'll help maybe not....But sometimes the old cards are hidden in device manager and confict with the new cards.

You could try the following and take a look and see. This is safe to do as long as you don't go crazy deleting your needed devices. This can also be kinda used for the lazy guys who let windows handle a major system swap!

right click on command prompt and run as admin

type: set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1? hit enter

type: devmgmt.msc hit enter

Click view then Show Hidden Devices from the

Look in Display adapters and see if old are greyed out. Look in sound also as for any greyed out ATI High Def audio devices also. If you see the old ones just right click and choose uninstall

Theres room inside HAF932 to put in 2x 6990s? very interesting.

I thought catalyst was the one and only driver for all settings, with crossfire options included..

Did you install the CF bridge and did you install the motherboard CF driver? Not the ATI driver, the Motherboard driver...

I have 2x6990s running in RampageIII Formula MOBO with 0 issues.

Yes, ample room apart from I can't use bottom PCie slot for dual slot card-wtf? Got extra long crossfire connectors but can't use them so cards hotter than I like-75-80C. I have 3 PCIe slots but bottom one unusable with a man sized graphics card!
