New 6870 - Strange WoW problem

I recently upgraded my video card to a Gigabyte 6870 from an old 8800gts. I removed the Nvidia drivers before I installed the 6870 and installed the latest Catalyst drivers after rebooting with the 6870.

About this same time, I created a new Worgen Druid "bank alt" character in WoW. I was told the newbie Worgen area was fun and wanted to give it a shot. All was well for the first few levels, but then my video goes out. The monitor says "No VGA" and the little light on it changes from blue to orange to indicate sleep mode. A quick reset gives me 3 quick beeps, which on Asus is No VGA detected. If I shut the machine down completely and back on, all is well. I can relog back into WoW and play any of my characters, EXCEPT the druid. If I relog the druid, I can get 5-10 minutes before the "No VGA" crash happens again. My paladin tanking in Firelands should be more stressful on the card than Gilneas newbie area!

I can run 3dmark11 with no problems. I can play any of my other characters in WoW with no problems. I have removed, re-downloaded, and re-installed new drivers. I have reseated the card multiple times. I have changed the power source. I have run the WoW "repair" option in the downloader screen. I have turned down graphics settings.

I am at a loss. Any thoughts??

EDIT: System specs

Should be, but I seem to remember there being some weird graphic glitches in that area that slowed things down. Still, never had a problem like yours.

I'd try an older version of drivers, or newer (11.7 preview).

Try using drive sweeper or other utility to make sure you get rid of all previous driver remnants. I went from an 8800GTS to a 4850 after just uninstalling and noticed in some games (i.e. witcher 1) there were translucent textures which should be opaque. After removing everything and using drive sweeper the problem was fixed.

I found an 11.6b hotfix driver that fixed the problem. Thanks for the responses folks!
