New 6800GS, stock fan doesn't work.

I just replaced my 9800pro with a evga 6800GS. When I booted it up, I noticed that the fan on it didn't start up.

After installing the new drivers, I saw that the temp was over 100C, so I shut the PC off, opened the case, and put a big room fan on it to keep it cool.

Is there anything that could cause the fan to not work, other than the fan just being dead?

Yes, it's hooked up to the extra power. I was just playing CS:S (with the fan blowing into my case) and the framerate was great.

It wouldn't be a driver issue would it? Shouldn't the fan start up right when the card gets power?

yes the fan should start up, i would either return it or order a new heatsink & fan

If for some reason it's not a card that you can rma or return, you might want to look at some alternative fans. Newegg carries quite a few.

Perhaps something like this.
