One of my favorite games and I absolutely hate that I can't turn on AA. Can the 6800 series, or even the 400 series of nVidia cards enable any sort of AA in GTA 4?

68XX series has something called Morphological AA that usually works well for games that do not have support for MSAA or you could also use it in games that do support MSAA

it doesn't eliminate all AA in GTA4, but image quality is most definitely improved with MLAA enabled

They have MLAA (Morphological Anti Aliasing) which is... a form of AA. It barely has any fps loss, so thats nice.

Its supposed to work well in GTA4, if your to believe the thread about MLAA they have over at guru3d.com.

here are some more (mlaa) + GTA4:

What mod are these screenshots from? The game looks totally different. I'm not sure that's a good thing or not.

@Arkadrel: I also want to know what that mod is. Vanilla GTA4 definitely does not look like that.

I got MLAA working on my Radeon 5850 with the 10.10b hotfix and the registry hack. GTA4 and EFLC is precisely the reason I was eager to try it out. Made the game absolutely unplayable (tried both 1920x1080 and 1280x720). The resolution and other settings didn't seem to make much of a difference. I played the game for a few minutes and it constantly wavered between single digits and mid-teens.

It did look rather nice though. The HUD/Map had some rendering artifacts but absolutely unplayable. And I normally get silky smooth performance at 1920x1080, the view/detail/density sliders at 51, everything set to highest except shadows set to High (Very High produces a similar effect to MLAA in terms of stuttering and insanely low frame rates).

My computer: i5 750, HD 5850, 4GB, 7 x64

Supposedly the 10.11 drivers will enable MLAA on HD 5000 series GPUs (can't remember where I read it though). Maybe those will fix something?
