New 600W and 700W Fortrons

I've been waiting for Fortron to release their next line of power supplies for a while. The 500W BlueStorm is just not enough for many out there. So they took that concept that made it much better. These new Fortrons feature 4 12V rails.

Whats truly groundbreaking is that this power supply has the potential for such high efficiency. Although, I will wait for the reviews to make the ultimate judgement. These look extremely sexy and I cannot wait to try one out.

Here are the links to the products:

Nice. I just don't know about having 15a on each. Granted, it's a lot of juice total, but I don't know of any way of knowing what is on each rail, so isn't there a chance of putting too much on one rail and leaving another one bare?

Nice PSUs nonetheless though. 🙂

Are you lost raildogg? 😀 j/k

We all know, or atleast we should, that your linked unit will not carry 12V @ 60A.

I like Fortron, got two of the older 400 watt units doing well. Good stuff.
For me the jury is still out on the new eeeuww speced green Fortrons.

I like the PSU testing done by madshrimps.be/. They just tested a Sky Hawk that
looked good. I'll look for Fortron there.

Yesterday UPS dropped off my new Zippy/Emacs HG2-6400P. $93 to the house.
3.3V @ 25A, 5.5V @ 35A, 12V @ 30A. Now these are Taiwanese amps and are much
stronger than Chinese amps. Plus the Zippy has thicker majic blue smoke and won't
leak out as easily...😉

It won't carry 60A, but I don't believe that for the ordinary hardcore enthusiast out there 60A is needed. Most people can get by with less than half that. The Seasonic I have in my rig now has 33A and can run SLI easily. The Fortron Greens got a nice review at SilentPC, however. For a single gpu system, that psu will be fine.

I believe that the major psu makers are actually based out of Taiwan so no need to worry 😀

looks pretty sweet. i'll be definitely interested in some reviews.

looking at the pdf spec sheet, whats the max 12v combined, 48? or am i reading that wrong?

Look at the chart on the bottom of page six.

I'm thinkin' about 34A maybe on the 12V line. It all depends on how the power is needed.

//hmmm, yeah, thats what i was looking at= 9/9/15/15, seems odd but what do i know 😛

Its actually closer to 44A if you combined them.

I don't think I understand this. 4 15 amp rails doesn't equal 60 amps? In the world of AC power, a rail (we call them a leg), puts out what it says. If it's rated at 40 amps, you by God get 40 amps out of it. What good are made up specs? And if they are going to make them up, why not say 4 30amp rails?

I'm confused....

Since any ATF denizen that has been around a while already knows that a vanishingly small percentage of systems actually NEED more than a quality, properly allocated 450W PSU, then these new Fortron/Sparkles are mainly just another ePeePee for those with more money than sense...

But they will be interesting in a technical sense.

.bh.

Yeah, as if a 600W rated PSU can put out 720W on the 12V rails. Maybe 15A per rail with only one 12V rail driven and ALL the other rails idling.. .bh.

And most of the Taiwanese PSU makers actually make their PSUs in the PRC. Zippys are still mfr'd in Taiwan. .bh.
