There are some nice performance gains visible. Even though I suspect it's probably because of the new memory controller I'm tempted to drop my old X800XL back in my system to test the new drivers.

"Huge boost in performance "

This is a gross exaggeration. There are some small performance increases, far from huge.

I saw almost no improvement in Aquamark3 scores, but did see a ~10% improvement in 3DMark06 scores. My drivers previously were the modified 6.1 drivers that came with my Powercolor x1900xt (I know a lot of new X1900s came with modified 5.13s).

I'm guessing these drivers don't have any real X1900 tweaks, since reports are that most 1xxx series cards see a performance boost with the 6.2s.

For a driver optimization, those are huge increaseses.

Look at the HL2 scores - they went from 80fps to 90+fps in some cases.

What are you talking about?

I saw a 200-400 3DMark06 difference in one result.
Usually drivers offer about a 20 pt difference let alone over 100!
There are definately some huge boosts (for a simple driver change) to be had, its just that its not the case accross ever game and every app.
But thats understandable.

there are some that could be considered huge. on the X1600 though. especially in quake.
even better that these results are at the useful end of things....i.e the high res and SS end of things. Shame they dident have a X1900 to try comparing the 5.13's

Is it just me or does that review show the X1800XT, not the X1900XT/X???

Nvm...the way you posted this, i was under the impression the review was for the X1900s.

Awesome to see my card gets a nice boost too :D

yea, i shouldn't had used the quote about the X1900... but nevertheless, the X1900 should show a nice boost like the X1800.....maybe at bit more since the driver is supposedly be directed at it
