OK, so I just got this box up and running. A few new stats that I could not get before running older versions of mint and kernel. It has a dark rock pro 4 cpu cooler, 2 fans at slow speed. 2 8 gig sticks of gskill 3200 cl14 at cl15 (bios picked timings)

31 cores@100% load and the 32nd running the 3080TI. 3868 mhz, 63c load. 5083 max in lscpu !
F@H ppd 7.3, will update on the next unit.

The box draws 615 watts from the wall with everything loaded, I would guess the GPU is over 400 watts of that. I will change to that box and add a few screen shots.

9.57 million ppd on the 2nd unit ! 1 17257.

BTW, what are the watts of your 5950x with the 3080ti, with everything running 100% ?
475 Watts BUT:

I have the 3080 TI running at 275 watts using 'sudo nvidia-smi -pl 275' and I have the PPT set in the Motherboard bios at 115 watts.

With my cpu at 142, and if the video card was 400, then my estimates are right on. Whats your ppd at 275 ?

3080 Ti; @full power it draws 340 watts according to nvidia-smi (TDP is 350 watts)

@275 watts:

Project ID: 17257
Avg. Time / Frame : 00:00:54 - 9,773,555.1 PPD

Project ID: 18201
Avg. Time / Frame : 00:00:51 - 9,150,993.6 PPD

Project ID: 18700
Avg. Time / Frame : 00:00:38 - 6,639,123.8 PPD

Some of the projects have a low PPD.

I may try that ! Do you have to restart or anything after changing ?

WOW,mine IS 400 !!

mark@mark-5950x-4:~$ sudo nvidia-smi -pl 300
[sudo] password for mark:
Power limit for GPU 00000000:09:00.0 was set to 300.00 W from 400.00 W.

Edit: I decided on 350 to not loose too much ppd. And without rebooting, it went down to 575 watts after a while.

(nvidia-smi -pl ...)

As you already noticed, it gets effective right away, while everything is kept up and running. The only thing to keep in mind is that a reboot will put the GPU back to its factory power limit.

I haven’t played with the power on my 3070ti, but I’ve found my 1080ti’s sweet spot is 60% power. Only lose about 100k points ( drop from 2.5 mil / day to 2.4mil / roughly) per day and drop power consumption about 75-80 watts.

Now pull the plug on that annoying light organ on the GPU and you'll gain a little something of performance within the same power envelope ;)

Nice hardware! :) Thanks for sharing, Mark!
