I need to build another gaming pc because my last one is being used in the living room as a home pc and as a way to entertain guest ( Not what it was made for but) I need to build another one for me to keep and need some suggestions.

Can you buy a prebuilt and throw that in the living room? That would most likely be the cheaper option. You can even make the living room PC a notebook so it can serve you in other ways.

Good ideas by sm625.

You also could build this box and make it the home pc and guest entertainer. You won't need to spend all of your budget. Unless you guests game or run demanding apps, I think an Trinity/Richland APU system might be all that's necessary to back your first rig.

P.S They must like that rig a lot. 😛

My gaming pc is being used to stream netflix and use things like vudu. It also gets used for youtube and downloading viruses. But can a pre-built stream 1080p movies?

1080p is child's play these days for integrated GPUs, even for the "lowly" Celerons and A4s.

Streaming 1080p films on a $550 PC is a waste. A $100 WD Live has no problem with 25GB x264/mkv rips over Gigabit.

Post the specs of your gaming PC. If it's more than you can get for $550, definitely take it back and put something cheap in the living room.
