Question new 4gb ram

dear all,
For my IBM thinkcentre desktop 2 x 2gb , i tried to replace my existing old
"HYNIX HMT325U6CFR8C-PB 2GB DDR3 PC3-12800
CL11 256MBX64 256MX8 1.5V 240P DIMM" with
new "Hynix 4GB PC3-12800 DDR3 1600MHZ 240PIN 1.5V DIMM Desktop Memory
HMT351U6CFR8C-PB Non-ECC Unbuffered CL11 240-Pin DIMM ".
I am getting beep sound and the PC does not start.

Make sure it is fully seated. Try different slots if there are.

Check if the memory is supported by the motherboard/bios.
You might have to update the bios if it continues to not post.

Really thin on the details. Are you replacing both modules with a single 4 GB DIMM? Did you try the 4GB DIMM in both slots (or all four if it has that many)?

You might have to update the bios if it continues to not post.
Yup. A Dell Core i5 2nd gen in office needed the 4GB DIMM to be taken out and installed again in a different slot after every shutdown. After almost eight (!) BIOS updates, it has worked flawlessly ever since.
