Just wondering about the Q8200 and family. I assume that they will be cache-reduced, but will they also be FSB-reduced, thus higher multipliers, and possibly a cheap way to get a 4Ghz quad?

How does Q8200 compare to Q9400?

It's really stupid IMO, all these Intel quads are capable of 1333 FSB or more, and there's no reason for Intel try to segment their product line.

Sure there is, people will buy them if they are cheaper. I think they are trying to segment more to try and head off the typical AMD theory of we might not be the fastest but we are cheaper.

Intel will make a lot of the fact that their view is you need to be spending a thousand dollars on a CPU and that everybody ought to drive the Ferrari. Without giving a lot of thought to usage scenarios and the most commonplace price-points that people are purchasing a computer at today ? and I guess I would maybe equate our story to be that of: we?re bringing to market a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry. These are the two most popular cars on the planet ? nobody?s ever criticised Honda or Camry for not having Ferrari performance.
